How Can We Really Stimulate Collagen?

Anatomical illustration of facial skin showing collagen fibres and underlying tissue structures

When we talk about skin ageing, we inevitably talk about collagen.

As we get older, we produce less of it and the skin gradually loses firmness, elasticity and density. But ageing isn’t only about wrinkles. The face changes at several levels, from the skin itself to the deeper supporting tissues.

This is why there isn’t one single “best” treatment for stimulating collagen.

Different technologies work differently

Radiofrequency, focused ultrasound, lasers and fractional technologies can all stimulate tissue remodelling, but they don’t work in exactly the same way or at the same depth.

Sometimes our priority is improving texture and skin quality. In other cases, we need to work deeper to improve firmness and support.

So the decision shouldn’t begin with a treatment. It should begin with the tissue we are trying to improve.

What about biostimulation?

Biostimulation can also play an important role. The aim isn’t necessarily to create volume, but to progressively improve tissue quality, density and structure.

For some patients, combining technologies with biostimulation allows us to work at different levels and achieve a more balanced, natural result.

Of course, this doesn’t mean everyone needs multiple treatments. It simply means choosing what is genuinely needed.

Collagen takes time

This is something I often explain to my patients: collagen doesn’t develop in a few days.

It’s a gradual biological process. Tissue remodelling continues after treatment, which is why results need to be assessed over time.

For me, this is what Skin Longevity is about. Not changing someone’s face or trying to erase every sign of ageing, but maintaining healthy, firm, good-quality skin for as long as possible.

At Rejuve Mediclinic, we always start with the same question:

What does this face actually need?

Only then do we choose the treatment.
