Description

Rejuvenate the face, say goodbye to superficial and expression wrinkles without having to undergo invasive cosmetic surgery? Today it is possible thanks to the new WSR technologies. Anti-aging therapies can now be addressed with the laser, finally leaving aside the classic cosmetic surgery with a long and often painful course.

Facial WSR with CO2 laser is a treatment that eliminates or corrects most superficial skin imperfections. It exploits the cellular vaporization resulting from the carbon dioxide ray. The light emitted by the laser is intense and so fast that it can vaporize and heal the blemish in just a few seconds. Above all, it does not involve the neighboring areas (which happens with the use of slower lasers).

Laser skin resurfacing does not want to replace the classic facelift surgery which is able to correct imperfections of greater entity and extent, but responds to an increasingly broad demand of patients who want the rapid correction of annoying expression lines, spots or small scars. In fact, the result is visible from the first session and the skin is immediately smoother and more compact, with a new supply of collagen.

The CO2 laser acts on wrinkles of light and medium depth, giving the skin a younger, more toned and rich appearance. The laser is also functional for the treatment of acne scars, keratosis, sun spots, age-related pigmentations or dilated pores, which are eliminated without difficulty. Indications

The fractional laser, by emitting a light beam divided into small points that hit the skin in a less traumatic and at the same time more effective way than old lasers, acts on the skin by vaporizing the superficial layer of the epidermis, centering the water present in the cells, without damaging the surrounding tissue; furthermore, by dilating the capillaries of the skin, it prepares the way for the diffusion of radiofrequency.

The radiofrequency minimizes the secondary effects of the laser, such as redness and swelling that will last a maximum of 1-2 days, and restores new tone and firmness to areas of the face that are now loose and not very elastic.

Unlike old methods that are ineffective and too aggressive (such as skin peelings based on acids with a variable percentage, or even older lasers), this innovative technology causes the genesis of new cells and an increase in collagen production.

The light emitted by the CO2 fractionated laser is intense and very fast: the blemish is vaporized and healed in a few micron seconds, without affecting the surrounding area, unlike slower lasers.

Laser skin resurfacing is not intended to replace the classic facelift, which can correct deeper and more extensive imperfections, but it can correct unwanted expression lines, spots or small scars on the face. The result will be visible from the first session and will give a smoother, more compact and collagen-enriched skin.

The laser skin resurfacing technique can be used in a very transversal way: it is in fact able to intervene on multiple imperfections and improve or completely solve the problem. Specifically, laser skin resurfacing is indicated for the following situations:

  • Expression lines (especially around the eyes, lips and forehead)
  • Acne scars
  • Neck wrinkles
  • PHyper-pigmentation problems (dark spots on the skin)

The use of laser skin resurfacing is also suitable for those who want smoother, more toned and compact skin, minimizing possible recovery times.

Use

In the four weeks prior to the session, it is necessary to follow specific instructions in order to optimize the effect of the laser and not run into unpleasant contraindications. It will therefore be important not to take photosensitizing drugs; to completely avoid exposure to the sun and UVA lamps to prevent the formation of unsightly spots and pigmentation; to prepare the skin with the application of moisturizers and perform antiviral prophylaxis for three days.

After the treatment, it will be equally important to follow the instructions of your cosmetic surgeon and apply specific moisturizing and anti-inflammatory creams that will be prescribed to you; avoid exposure to sunlight and UV lamps for at least 40 days (it is therefore preferable to undergo the treatment during the colder months); the skin will remain physiologically red for the 2-3 days following the treatment, but it will be possible to cover the redness with make-up, without exceeding; some discomfort will be normal perceived during the first week, however complications are minimal and very rare, if the instructions of your plastic surgeon are followed consistently and precisely. As a personal precaution, after 40 days following the laser skin resurfacing treatment it is advisable to expose yourself to sunlight only with a protection factor of 50+.

It is implied that, before undergoing laser skin resurfacing surgery, you must visit a professional plastic surgeon able to evaluate your problem and decide on the best solution.

Duration

The session lasts about 40-45 minutes and is not painful since the laser system has a cooling handpiece that desensitizes the area being treated.

In order to maximize the effect of the laser, it is possible to repeat the treatment after a couple of months. The sessions are performed in the clinic; during the following 2-3 days you will have to cool the skin a couple of times a day and hydrate it abundantly. The following day it will be possible to wear make-up.

Results

Generally 2-3 sessions will be needed to get really satisfying results.

The effect of each session is progressive and cumulative. This means that the first results will be visible a few weeks after the treatment, that is after the skin has finished the re-epithelialization process and that by the time you undergo the second session, the first is still having an effect. After a couple of years it is possible to undergo a maintenance session. Treatment with ultra-pulsed CO2 laser corrects skin defects due to aging or previous diseases such as acne; it does not stop the normal aging process of skin. In this sense, the obtainable results, even if of long duration, cannot be considered permanent.

FAQ

Are there any risks?
Slight discomfort may be perceived during the first week, but complications are very rare, if the patient follows the indications of the doctor consistently and carefully.
Is the treatment painful?
A session lasts about 40/45 minutes and is not painful as the laser system is equipped with a cooling handpiece capable of desensitizing the area of the face that is being treated.
What can I do to maintain the results obtained?
In order to maintain the beneficial effects of laser treatment for as long as possible, it is essential to avoid risk factors and lifestyles that can cause or accelerate the physiological aging process of the skin.
How many sessions do you need to get good results?
Usually, 2/3 sessions are necessary to obtain satisfactory results. The effect of each session is progressive and cumulative, meaning the first results will be visible a few weeks after the treatment, after the skin has completed the re-epithelialization process.
